EV vs. gas has always been the pitted posit in our Powersports industry, but what happens when zippy, zero-emission scoots munch new mileage ahead of their fossil-fuel counterparts?

It’s exactly what just happened at Round 5 of this year’s Roland Sands Design Super Hooligan National Championship, which took place at Laguna Seca; there, Energica’s Eva Ribelle RS grabbed the circuit by the teabag, flinging out beauty specs willy-nilly and becoming the first EV in the world to take the lead in a race with gas motorcycles.

The residual reactions in our markets are sure to affect Energica’s next season of sales for their insurgent Ribelle RS – after all, Stefano Mesa (and Tytlers Cycle Racing) “wrote a new chapter in the history of motorcycling.”

As Roland Sands himself was heard to have said, the Kit-Corsa-Clienti-equipped Eva Ribelle RS is the “first EV ever in the world to lead a race against ICE machinery.”

Naturally, nobody is more pleased than Michael Kiley, the Team Principal of Tytlers Cycle Racing:

“Fantastic result. If you know everybody who’s behind Energica, you know this bike works. Stefano knows how to make it work and the team knows how to make it work. This is fabulous!”

Expect to see the conclusion of all this good stuff at the next Super Hooligan round, set to take place September 8-10 at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

Who are you rooting for at this year’s Super Hooligan efforts?
