The 2022 Indian Motorcycle lineup comprises two Springfield models — the standard Indian Springfield and the Springfield Dark Horse. The latter is a massive, blacked-out cruiser that sets itself apart from the base model with more modern styling and a larger, more powerful engine.

Indian Motorcycle has equipped the Indian Springfield Dark Horse with its Thunderstroke 116 engine — a 1,890cc V-twin unit that produces an impressive 126 lb-ft of torque. The American manufacturer has not revealed an official power output figure for this engine, but private tests have found that it makes just above 90hp.

Since the Springfield Dark Horse is a substantial motorcycle with impressive performance levels, Indian has equipped it with several riding aids. These include ABS, three riding modes (Tour, Standard, and Sport), cruise control, and a cylinder deactivation technology that shuts the rear cylinder off in slow-moving traffic for a smoother ride and better heat management.
