2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 XC Range & Desert Edition

For 2020, Triumph has released two types of adventure bikes, the 1200 XR range and the 1200 XC range. The XC models are more dedicated off-road adventure bikes, true to the spirit of multiple days on the go across a desert.

All of the XC’s are powered by a 1,215cc DOHC liquid cooled inline triple that produces 141 HP and 90 lbs-ft of torque.

The base model is the Tiger 1200 XCx, which comes with a new driver selectable mode in addition to the expected rain, dry, off-road, dirt/track, and that is off road pro. What this mode does is disengage the ABS and traction control entirely, allowing you to have the maximum amount of control and fun while nowhere near tarmac. Standard features are electronically adjustable WP shocks front and back, cornering ABS, and more off road oriented guards and a bash plate under the engine.

The top spec Tiger 1200 XCa adds adaptive cornering lighting, clutchless shifting up and down, a titanium lightweight Arrow exhaust, and LED lights all around.

The Tiger 1200 Desert Edition shares the features of the XCa, but adds a special paint scheme, graphics, and badging across the bike to make note that it is a special edition.

Over 100 enhancements across the whole motorcycle (including a lighter flywheel, crankshaft, exhaust silencer, engine bars and battery) have resulted in an 11 pound weight saving over its predecessor to significantly improve handling and maneuverability.


The thrilling new generation Tiger 1200 XC<small>X</small> engine delivers more peak power (139HP at 9,350rpm) and maximum torque of 89 ft/lbs (at 7,600rpm), giving more immediate delivery and even better all-day road and off-road riding.


The short and light exhaust delivers a notably thrilling Tiger triple soundtrack.


In addition to the XR spec, a host of high value XR<small>X</small> features include Daytime Running Lights and LED lighting, full-color TFT Instruments, backlit new switch cubes and 5-way joystick, four riding modes and keyless ignition.


The XC X is ready to take on any challenge in every type of riding environment with its five riding modes (‘Rain’, ‘Road’, ‘Off-Road’, ‘Sport’, plus the new dedicated ‘Off-Road Pro’).


Better all-round capability; stylish all-black wheels with a 32-spoke, aluminum rim, front wheel fitted with Metzeler Tourance tubeless tires (front R19 x 3″, rear R17 x 4.5″) and optional handbook-approved off-road Pirelli Scorpion set-up.


Optimised for every day practicality, the ergonomics are developed in order to deliver a unique ride for a wider range of riders and riding styles; including a comfortable seat compound and comfortable yet sporty handlebar position for great control both off-road and on.


Contemporary premium bodywork and the highest ever level of finish and detailing with premium graphics and finishes to enhance that muscular Tiger 1200 style.


The Tiger 1200 XC X features adjustable ‘2 position’ seat mechanism allowing the rider to lower seat height by 0.78 inches from 33.6 inches to 32.8 inches to suit their style and provide a more comfortable riding experience.


The XC X premium adjustable WP suspension is delivered by the Triumph Semi Active Suspension (TSAS) system which allows the rider to set a level of electronic control over how the bike reacts to the ride.


Twin 12 inches floating discs and radially mounted 4-piston monobloc Brembo calipers with new BRM10B brake pads on the front, and a single 11.1 inches disc with Nissin 2-piston sliding caliper on the back.
