This Should be Fun to Watch
Monster Energy has made one of the most interesting events ever possible. Valentino Rossi and Lewis Hamilton will trade vehicles and get out on the racetrack. Both men are sponsored by Monster Energy, so the event was actually fairly easy to orchestrate. The event will take place on December 9, 2019. That’s a week after the 2019 Formula One season finale in Abu Dhabi.
It might not be super smart to have a car racer and a motorcycle race switch places, but both racers have track experience driving and riding the other vehicle. Lewis Hamilton, the five-time Formula 1 champion, has had plenty of track miles on sportbikes and is known to ride motorcycles when he can. Valentino Rossi, the seven-time MotoGP champion, tested for Scuderia Ferrari a few times and is also planned to race a 488 GT3 car at the Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina on December 14, according to Motorsports.com.
With all this in mind, it appears that both men are ready for the event. I’d say Rossi has the advantage because this will be Hamilton’s first time on a real MotoGP bike, though he as had track time on a Yamaha YZF-R1 at Jerez last year. At the very least, this should be wildly entertaining.
