Bell adds retro Moto 3 helmet

Retro bikes have been the rage for years and now retro motorcycle helmets and gear are catching up with Bell one of the leaders.

The iconic American helmet brand kicked off with the Bell Custom 500 in 2013. They followed up with the Bell Bullitt full-face helmet in 2014.

There have been many other retro open and full-face helmets since. However, Bell has struck back with the Moto 3 retro motocross helmet.

The helmet was launched in April and arrives in Australia later this month costing $489.95.

It is available in solid white, orange, red, black or yellow colours. Moto 3 also comes in sizes small to XXL with three different shell sizes for a more slimline fit.

The Moto 3 is reminiscent of the types of helmets many of us started wearing around the dirt tracks back in the 1970s.

All the mod cons

However, it has many modern features including a lightweight fibreglass composite shell so it weighs just 1.4kg. It is both ADR and ECE approved.

Features include an EPS-lined chinbar, chin ventilation and a removable/washable anti-microbial terrycloth liner.Bell Moto 3 retro helmet

The helmet comes with a secure five-snap fixed visor or you can use a pair of goggles.

Although it’s an MX-style helmet, we can see it fitting right in with the hipsters on their street trackers and scramblers.

Retro launch party

Hipster Brisbane custom bike shop Ellaspede is taking orders now. The shop even held an official Bell Helmets Official Moto 3 Launch Party on October 28.Bell Moto 3 retro helmet

The free event combined free food from That BBQ Joint and free beer from Mountain Goat.

Bell Helmets had a big display of their product and a Moto 3 helmet was given away on the night.

We haven’t yet tested the Bell Moto 3. It also has not yet been rated on the comprehensive SHARP helmet rating website. However, the Bell Bullitt scored three out of five stars and most of their helmets score the maximum rating.
