Shark adds lightweight Spartan helmet

Last updated:

Shark claims their Spartan sports touring helmet not only offers protection, but is also quiet and light so that it doesn’t fatigue you on a long trip.

Thanks to its new carbonfibre and fiberglass shell, it weighs just 1350g which is pretty light for a full-face helmet.

The Spartan also features a dual spoiler system to optimise air drag and internal cooling. It is designed to not only keep you cool but reduce drag that causes neck pain after a long day in the saddle.

The helmet has a feature called Shark Skin fastenings on the side of the peak which they say helps reduce that annoying whistling sound a high speed.

Shark claims its Auto Seal system will further improve soundproofing and make the Spartan a warmer, more comfortable fit.

Spartan comes standard with a Pinlock MaxVision face shield and integrated drop-down internal sun visor.

Shark claims their research and development team reverse-engineered the Spartan helmet based on the needs of the wearer.

This helmet has not yet been assessed in the comprehensive SHARP helmet safety rating system. However, Shark full-face helmets usually rate four or five out of five stars except for the budget Apennine which rates three stars.

In the recent Canstar Blue survey on eight helmets, Shark rated last with three overall satisfaction stars. Read all about the survey here.
