Delkin WingmanHD Action Video Camera
November 2011 – Delkin, the manufacturer of memory cards, USB card readers and the Fat Gecko line of camera suction cup mounts (review) has announced the “WingmanHD” video camera.

The Wingman HD is claimed to be “the lightest weight action camera in the world”, according to the company. It weighs 3 ounces (claimed) and it can record 1080p HD video.

The Wingman HD includes a 1.5 inch LCD live view screen; a 3x digital zoom; and a universal mounting system to allow seamless integration with existing photo and video equipment.
“With the division between photography and videography fading, more photographers are becoming their own directors, videographers and producers” explains Marketing Manager Anna Lopez.
“Incorporating a ‘point of view’ perspective into film adds a connection for viewers, whether it’s from a person, racecar, surfboard, airplane or the top of a building. A rugged design with a lightweight build and a universal ¼-20″ photography mount allows users to capture realistic footage of impending jumps, rapids and free falls without any extra weight or interference, particularly in extreme environments or activities.”
The Wingman HD features a user-friendly menu and easy to navigate buttons that allow users to capture 1080p, 720p, WVGA or QVGA video as well as 8 megapixel still image photography.
Automatic focus, white balance and exposure help to avoid swapping between camera settings during a shoot, while the 150-degree wide angle lens is set to mimic human peripheral eyesight without the fisheye distortion that oftentimes accompanies wider angle lenses.
Optional time lapse, triple-burst and self-timer modes can be set to take images at set intervals between zero and sixty seconds, while an optional video loop record can splice video footage into manageable 15 minute long intervals.
Built-in LCD and camera standby modes protect the battery life during downtime and allow instant reactivation of video or picture capture with the press of a button. On-camera LCD playback allows the user to skip, fast forward, rewind and even delete files to free up more space on the fly, as well as review footage to ensure the accuracy of angles and mounting positions while in the field.
Sharing and recharging is easy with the built in built in HDMI, composite A/V and USB ports that allow users to upload video and share it via computer, high definition TV or standard TV.
The included wall charger and car charger give the user more options for recharging, especially when a computer isn’t always nearby.
The retail price for the entire kit is set at $249.99.
In addition to the included mounts, the WingmanHD is compatible with Delkin’s complete line of Fat Gecko line of camera suction cup mounts (review) and accessories as well as standard photography tripods, mounts and other devices that utilize a universal ¼-20 mounting base.
