We’ve only just covered the filing of an “R12” and “R12 S” back in September, and a photo has already popped up showing a picture of the former.

Take a look below:

The photo comes courtesy of homologation filings from Australia for both the R 12 and an R 12 NineT; we already knew from BMW themselves that these machines would sport a slightly less powerful engine than BMW’s current R nineT, and now Jens Kratschmar from Motorrad adds that the R 12 in the photo will weigh 504.8lbs (229kg), with 1,170cc’s of air-oil-cooled boxer power helping compensate a little for the bike’s additional length (+70mm, or +2.75”).

Most interesting to note is the rear of this bike, which looks similar to BMW’s R 18, minus a bit of tweaking to make way for the higher seat height and tire dimensions, which correspond to the Harley-Davidson Street Bob, the Softail Standard, and the Nightster.

In other words, say hi to BMW’s newest “Boxer cruiser on Harley wheels.”

Competition for this new machine will obviously be Harley’s Nightster, and we look forward to seeing what BMW punts out in the (very) near future.
