The Suzuki Burgman Scooter family has been around for over 2 decades and has remained an international favourite for scooter riders. While Suzuki’s motorcycles are often regarded for its performance bikes, the Burgman is known to offer its riders a sense of poise and refined class for commuting instead of the blistering speed that the likes of the Hayabusa may offer. Not much has changed for this year’s iteration of the Suzuki Burgman 400, but it’s still a great package and has its place in the 2023 Suzuki lineup.

The Burgman 400’s body features a modern, sleek, and aerodynamic design. The bike has a standard 2-up style seat and an adjustable backrest to accommodate a passenger. Underneath the seat is a 50-litre storage space large enough for two helmets or anything the rider desires. Built into the bodywork is a hidden anti-theft device – a pass-through which allows a chain to be looped around the frame as a means of securing the Burgman. The scooter is powered by a liquid-cooled 400cc single-cylinder engine, which produces about 30hp. Like most scooters, power is transferred to the rear wheel through a CVT transmission. The ride is kept comfortable yet sporty with 41mm front forks and a 7-way adjustable mono rear shock.

Made in Japan, the Burgman 400 inherits heaps of technology from its Suzuki brethren, including traction control, ABS. and the Suzuki easy start system, which lets the scooter start quickly and easily with a single press of the starter button and the brake applied. Additionally, the Burgman comes standard with LED headlights, front position lights, and rear combination lights. Located just below the handlebars is a small storage area with a built-in 12V outlet, which can be used to charge your phone while you ride.

The instrument cluster is a combination analog/LCD unit, which combines modern technology with timeless design.

In the United States, the Burgman 400 is only available in Solid Iron Gray. Up north, the Canadian variant is offered in Metallic Matte Black.

Also included is Suzuki’s Eco Drive Indicator, which come on when the vehicle is operated in a fuel-efficient manner and may help riders learn techniques to better economize on fuel*2.
