Moto Guzzi Motorcycles: Guzzi's at Monza! "Four classic
machines from Moto Guzzi's golden era made a return to the
track at Monza, in an evocative display of pre-and post war
technology. Possibly the most exotic GP machine of any
era was saved to last, the monstrous V-8, complete with
Guzzi green paint and a huge dustbin fairing - which proved
to be so effective that it was eventually banned. In
production from 1955-56-57 it was a class-leading piece of
technology, almost experimental in design, which was
intended to be used on only the fastest tracks, while Guzzi
intended to race their other 500cc machines on the tighter
circuits. It proved, however, with a top speed of over
280kmph, to be not only fast but handle well enough to be
used everywhere. Producing 80bhp @ 12,000 rpm, the machine
was retired prematurely and soon afterwards Guzzi‚s interest
in GP racing ended." Read more in this

Exhaust Ferrules - Flanges: Received this info from
Pratt
Lay: "We have recently produced two items that may be of
interest to Moto Guzzi owners. Corrosion resistant
Exhaust Ferrule Set to replace the original Guzzi items that
go rusty after a winter. Most people know them as
exhaust flanges or collars. They are made from cast
aluminium (aluminum) and we think that they are by far the
best replacement available. Many other types available
do not follow the elegant shape of the
Moto Guzzi original (but these do). The set also
contains stainless half collets (as far as I am aware these
are unavailable elsewhere), stainless dome nuts, stainless
washers and stainless studs. Since the collets and
ferrules are sold as a set, each set fits the majority of
Guzzi models. Each set is priced at £37.
The second item
is a hugger type product which we call a Shield Hugger.
These will fit Daytonas, 1100Sports, and Centauros.
They cannot be called a hugger since they are made from
flexible neoprene and not injection molded plastic.
Their rigidity is provided by the unique swingarm bracing
members on the Guzzi models it is designed to fit and some
PVC plastic reinforcement. We developed these since
even the Guzzi items found as standard on the V11 leave a
lot of delicate areas exposed to road spray. In our
experience a hugger generally costs around £100 and although
they are sometimes made from carbon fibre or whatever, which
could justify the price, most people are merely interested
in the protective qualities of a hugger and find it hard to
justify that type of cost. The Shield Hugger is a
practical alternative to a conventional hugger as it
performs and looks like one but only cost £35.
