Royal Enfield will expand its model range and world-wide network as the Indian motorcycle company invests $160m next financial year.
This comes as Royal Enfield has released a new Himalayan Sleet model with camouflage black and white paint.
The massive investment will include new wholly-owned subsidiaries in Indonesia and Thailand to cope with increased demand, says RE boss Siddhartha Lal.
“Our demand continues to exceed supply, and we continue to see strong growth from all our markets,” he says.
“Therefore, we have decided to expand our production capacity with the second phase of our Vallam Vadagal plant near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
“We will also complete construction of our Technology Centre in Chennai this year, and invest further in the development of new products to meet upcoming regulations and to expand our portfolio for our global markets.”
New products that meet upcoming regulations refers to the introduction of ABS across the range to meet Indian, European and Australian requirements and new engines to meet strict emissions targets.
It could also mean an electric motorcycle.
The 2018 Himalayan Sleet now adds a blackened Sleet livery, standard with Pirelli MT60 tyres.
Its camo colour scheme is matched by the blackened fuel cap, bar ends, top triple clamp and bottom clamp.
The Sleet increases colour options to three with the others being Granite and Snow.
Ride-away pricing of $6990 for the learner-approved motorcycles includes a two-year warranty and Customer Care Program.
