February 19, 2008: REV’IT! will also be introducing the Sirocco (alt: Scirocco) jacket in 2008.
The Sirocco is designed for warm weather, and since we get more visitor email about good warm weather clothing than we do about cold weather clothing, I’m betting that this jacket will be a big hit.
The goal for the Sirocco is to design a jacket that doesn’t compromise on protection, while still remaining comfortable in warm weather.
This isn’t easy, and many riders — including me — end up wearing the lightest clothes possible that offer a bare minimum of protection when the weather gets really hot, as it does here in the Mid-Atlantic.
I find it harder to choose good warm weather clothing than winter gear, so I’m really looking forward to trying the Sirocco
I’m not sure what type of fabric is used in the shell, but I’d guess it’s DuPont Cordura, now also used in the REV’IT! Cayenne Pro.
The Sirocco has styling that is similar to the Cayenne Pro, but it has lots of mesh in the front and rear as you can see in the photos.
It includes the same type of sonic welded removable waterproof liner and it also has a lighter weight thermal liner.
The Sirocco also has a wide pocket in the back to stow either liner when necessary.
The two vertical zippers on the upper chest along the placket are for pockets. A thin piece of removable foam padding is included in each pocket and these can be removed to increase air flow or inserted to block it; an inexpensive way to extend the temperature range of the jacket.
The jacket will be available in the light gray color shown here and a light gray with darker gray front panels.
