▪ wBW Motorcycle Video Camera Reviews
(October 16, 2014) - The Sena Prism action camera is finally year and will be released in November, according to Sena.
The camera, which will be called the "Prism", will feature Bluetooth 4.0 for audio recording via a Bluetooth intercom.
The Bluetooth capability allows the user to control the camera by voice commands through a Sena intercom.
There is also a clip-on hand grip controller that can be used to control the camera.
Using a voice or thumb control (joystick on the hand grip controller) makes it easy to start and stop the video recording, which improves battery life because you record only the video you want.
The Prism has a waterproof rating of 1 meter without requiring a waterproof case.
The Prism camera kit comes with a huge number of accessories that cost extra with other brands of action cameras. The kit includes the camera, a waterproof housing (for water sports), a double suction cup mount, modular brackets, a handlebar mount, a goggle mount, helmet mount and the unique hand grip controller.
Photos of the final production version and basic details of the Sena Prism action camera are below and we hope to have an example for a full review before the end of the year.
The Sena Prism is the first camera on the market to provide Bluetooth technology that allows riders to add their voice to the video recording. The new action camera is Bluetooth 4.0 capable with 1080p HD video recording featuring a Bluetooth-based remote control via hand grip controller and voice prompting through the Sena intercom system.
The Bluetooth function of the camera is exclusive to Sena and creates a new experience for the user by providing unique Bluetooth capability such as remote voice recording, remote control, and useful voice feedback from the operations.
For motorcycle riders, Sena provides a unique mounting accessory, QRM (Quick Release Mount) system for motorcycles, which enables riders to quickly attach and detach the camera to change the view through the use of a variety of mounting options. The Prism will become available in Q4 of 2014 for a list price of $399.00 and pre-orders are currently being accepted at RevZilla, a webBikeWorld affiliate retailer.
Sena also announced the Sena 10U self-contained intercom system (batteries and intercom module are contained in the speakers); the Sena 10C, a combined intercom and action camera that fits on a helmet mount; and the Sena 3S, an updated and self-contained intercom system similar to the Nexx SX-COM (review) system that Sena makes for Nexx Helmets.
October 17, 2013 - Sena had a major announcement today at the AIMExpo in Orlando, Florida. The Sena Bluetooth Action Camera has advanced features unlike no other current motorcycle video camera.
This is a revolutionary new design that can be controlled via the Sena SMH10 and new SMH20S intercom system. The Action Camera also sends spoken status announcements back to the Sena Bluetooth headset to inform the rider about camera functions.
For example, the camera will tell the rider when it's recording and when it has stopped. Remote voice recording is also available, so the rider can overlay voice and/or the Bluetooth headset music on to the video as it is being recorded.
Remote control of the Action Camera will also become possible as Sena develops the technology. The camera is still in final stages of development, so some features may change.
The mounts for the camera will be the quick release type -- no screws. A helmet mount similar to the Sena Bluetooth intercom mount will be provided with the Sena Action Camera motorcycle kit. The mount attaches to the right side of the helmet and the camera can be snapped in and out via the quick release.
Other quick release mount options will be provided with the kit.
Sena is also working on a firmware update for the Action Camera that will allow it to communicate with other brands of intercoms but with a slightly smaller control capability.
The Sena Bluetooth Action Camera kit, which includes the camera, mounts and various accessories, will have a list price of $399.00 and will be available some time after January of 2014. Specifications and press release are posted below.

From "N" (October 2013): " While that camera is not very easy on the eyes, it does make for a very nice "vlogger" camera. My Sena headset has some of the best noise cancellation I've ever encountered, while my mic setup for my vlogging catches a lot of wind noise. As long as the mounting system isn't terribly offensive, it's at least a neat idea."
