Suzuki Australia has recalled the V-Strom 650 (DL650), GSX-S750 and GSX-R1000A over a problem with the fuel pump tat can result in a minor fuel leak.

This recall affects 528 V-Stroms, 167 GSX-750s and 501 GSX-R1000 motorcycles in Australia.

The official recall notice issued through the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says the O-ring on the fuel pump may have become twisted during the installation process.

“If the seal has been twisted, it may reduce the performance of the seal,” it says.

Fuel leak

“This could cause a minor fuel leak. The leak would not be expected to spill on to the road, due to the small volume, and there is no risk of fire unless caused by external ignition source.

Affected owners will be contacted by direct mail to visit their Suzuki dealer for a free inspection and repair.

However, because bikes are often sold privately, Suzuki may have no record of the current owner, so we post these notices. You can also check your bike’s VIN number against the list at the end of this article.

Even though manufacturers and importers contact owners when a recall is issued, the bike may have been sold privately to a rider unknown to the company.

Therefore, Motorbike Writer publishes all motorcycle recalls as a service to all riders.

If you believe there is an endemic problem with your bike that should be recalled, contact the ACCC on 1300 302 502.
