Luggage Systems:Trailmaster Adventures A900 bags made in Colorado for dual-sporters, KTM, BMW and KLR/DR650 | Happy Trail makes a range of bags, both large and small, for the DR650; we ordered a set and reviewed the Imnaha bags, along with the Happy Trails racks, waterproof liners and top bags | Pro Cycle has a luggage rack system and Pelican ABS bags to fit the DR650 | TCI Products (aka Turbo City) has the “Outback Luggage System” using racks and Pelican ABS cases for panniers
Luggage Racks: Pro Moto Billet makes the nice-looking “Rack It” rear cargo rack, along with other protective bits like disk brake guards and foot pegs.
Handlebars: I didn’t want to do it, but ended up replacing the stock bar with a set of Pro Taper SE bars with the CR bend, purchased at Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, which is about as close to the stock configuration as you can get.
I’m glad I did and now that I did it, I probably should have gone with something just a touch higher. But these are excellent and fits my modified Cycra/Tusk hand guards.
I’ll be reporting on both of these soon — fitting the hand guards was a huge job that shouldn’t be… I added a set of Pro-Taper Pillow Top MX Grips in Black/Grey/Black, which also took some doing. More on that soon.
Foot Pegs: I ordered a set of low foot pegs and will be installing them soon. I’m 5’10” but feel slightly cramped, so we’ll see what the new pegs will do.
Seat: I installed a Pro Cycle Saddlemen seat and will be reporting on that soon also in the blog.
Lighting: First thing, I added a set of BikeVis LEDs with the PodMod modulator, which adds extra visibility to the bike. The nice front reflector brackets make a perfect mount for these lights and others I’ll be adding soon.
I’ll report on the BikeVis installation also in the blog. I’ll probably end up installing one of the HID kits from Pro Cycle also.
