The Rise of 3 New Stars

Pros
Cons

The new Bell Star helmet lineup now includes the Bell Star (street/touring), the Race Star (supersport/track days) and the Pro Star (racing).

The build quality, cut lines and graphics on display at the 2015 AIMExpo were outstanding.

The new helmet appears to be a big step up from the initial re-release of the Bell Star helmet (preview) in 2008 and the Bell Star 2010 (review).

It’s also an upgrade over the most recent Bell Star custom fit (review).

2015 Bell Star Specifications

Here’s an edited Bell Helmets press release:

The Pro Star Incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, including the Flex Impact Liner, TeXtreme Carbon Shell (Pro Star), the VIRUS CoolJade Liner, the Panovision Viewport and Magnefusion Magnetic Cheek Pads.

The helmets have been field-tested by Bell’s world-class riders.

As the race wears on and fatigue sets in, hot spots and helmet shifting begin to nag and detract a rider’s attention from the track. That’s no longer a problem with Bell’s latest technologies in the Pro Star.

A VIRUS CoolJade power mesh liner reduces skin surface temperatures up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s designed to withstand the rigors of hard use in extreme conditions and allows riders to stay cool and keep comfortable.

The a new Panovision Viewport offers additional vertical and lateral visibility allowing riders to see better in a tight or tucked position.

Along with enhanced comfort, the Pro Star has vastly improved its protection system. The Pro Star pulls from its top-of-the-line dirt counterpart, Moto-9 Flex.

Bell’s Flex Impact Liner features exclusive “progressive layering” technology — a system of three unique protective materials — is designed to address low-, mid-, high-speed and rotational impact velocities to deliver Bell’s most comprehensive level of protection.

But the outside matters, too.

The carbon shell is reinforced by TeXtreme, an ultra-thin carbon fiber weave, 20 percent lighter than conventional carbon fiber, making it one of Bell’s lightest and strongest shells ever.

The Magnefusion magnetic cheek pad system is designed for easy removal of pads for washing and enables emergency responders to easily pull out the pads before taking the helmet off an injured rider, reducing the chance of neck injury.

“Our engineers not only addressed core needs, but developed a helmet that redefines performance, safety standards and offers truly game-changing innovations,” said Chris Sackett, Bell Helmets Vice President.

“We’re offering six EPS liners along with five shell sizes for a more proportional fit and improved performance. Further, there will be three helmets within the Star Series Pro Star, Race Star, Star to match your riding style.”

Countless hours of testing went into the development of the helmet from state-of-the-art wind tunnels for optimized aerodynamics to road testing.

Bell tapped into several of its top road ambassadors for their input including Cameron Beaubier, Jake Gagne, Josh Herrin, William Dunlop and Gary Johnson.

The Pro Star is the top tier helmet within the 2016 Star Series lineup.

Following the Pro Star is the Race Star, made for the racer with a day job. It provides the same level of rider protection in a more affordable package.

Rounding out the series, the Star is built from the Pro Star pedigree but delivers performance at a price point the everyday rider can appreciate.
