The Thai-made Honda NSS300 Forza Scooter has been recalled over a brake fluid leak issue.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission safety recall notice says that due to a manufacturing defect, one of the securing nuts on the rear brake hose flange may not be tightened to the correct specification.
“If the bolt comes loose, brake fluid may be allowed to leak out causing the rear brake to become inoperable, posing an accident hazard to the rider and other road users.”
Models affected are numbered MLHNF04U1D5000001 – MLHNF04U3D5000064.
Owners should contact their Honda dealer for an inspection and free repair, if necessary.
Recall notices are issued by the manufacturer through a voluntary industry code under the ACCC.
Despite hundreds of recalls by various automotive manufacturers, none has ever been mandatory. All have been issued by the manufacturer.
While any recall is not good news for the manufacturer, it shows that they are largely diligent in fixing problems.
