The Apollo Electric Scooter Lineup + Our Take on Each Model

Designed, developed and tested at their HQ in Montreal, Apollo Scooters have quickly taken the PLEV market by storm. Every model in their range is of brilliant build quality, with every new scooter undertaking a 5,000 km roll test. Despite the industry-leading quality on display, many of these models remain affordable and fairly priced.

Their team state a passion to “displace cars as the status quo for all travel”, with their range accommodating both commuters and extreme thrill-seekers alike. The success of this brand stems from their original design, the Apollo Phantom; a top-performing electric scooter that sold out within 48 hours of launching.

Apollo sells their products directly in North America (Canada + USA) excluding Mexico and in 2022, they intend to have wholesalers on all continents as they extend their global presence.

A Consistent Dedication to Quality

In a display of confidence in their quality control, Apollo offers a 12-month warranty on every purchase, protecting against any manufacturing defect. This is extended by a further 12 months for repairs, in which riders only pay the cost to Apollo with no markup. Both from what we’ve seen and what their website claims, this is one of the longest warranties offered on an eScooter.

Each of their scooter models best fit a specific purpose, yet possess enough versatility to suit all manner of roles. For example, the ‘Ghost‘ makes a great choice for speed-demons, yet also remains suitable for inner-city commuters, thanks to the ‘eco’ riding mode. They also all feature smart battery management systems for added reliability. However, we won’t reveal too much here… Continue reading for our complete Apollo Scooters lineup for 2022:

The Apollo Explore is where this range starts to get really juicy. It claims a huge increase in performance in comparison to the City; all whilst remaining fully folding and still light enough to carry, at 24 kg. A single 1000W motor propels the ‘Explore’ to speeds of up to 31 mp/h (50 km/h), for a range of approx. 37 miles (60 km) per charge. All of this helps the ‘Explore’ reach speeds of 0-15 mp/h (25 km/h) in a mere 3.5 seconds.

The charge time of this model sits at ~8 hours, with the optional high-speed charger bringing that time down to just 4 hours. All of this is powered by a 48V 13.2aH battery utilising industry-leading Dynavolt cells, the same used on electric motorbikes. Attesting to its name, two grippy 10″ pneumatic tires and a 1400W peak output allow riders to operate both on and off-road, greatly improving functionality. The Apollo Explore includes dual disc braking and an electric regenerative hand brake; all contributing to an average stopping distance of just 8 ft/2.45m. The Apollo Ghost is a truly exhilarating eScooter. An upgraded successor to the ‘Explore‘, the ‘Ghost’ features dual 800W motors with a peak output of 2000W. This propels it to speeds of up to 34 mp/h (55 km/h), capable of reaching 0-15 mp/h in just 3.1 seconds, or 0-25 mp/h in 5.3 seconds. This acceleration is approx. 45% faster than the single-motored ‘Explore’ and powered by a 52V 18.2aH Dynavolt battery; rated for a minimum of 600 charge cycles with no impact on performance.

Its design is much more robust, with a wide and spacious deck adding to comfort and also accommodating seat installation. The Apollo Ghost is fashioned from a new hollow aluminium frame with added fenders for increased durability. It’s heavier than most models but still fully folding and transportable, weighing in at 29 kg (64 lbs) and supporting 135 kg (300 lbs). The Apollo Ghost makes a clear choice for any serious electric scooter fan.

  • Buy: Apollo Phantom
  • Motor: Dual 1200W (3200W peak output)
  • Est. Range: 39 / 40 miles (64 / 65 km)
  • Top Speed: 40 mp/h (64 km/h)

  • Weight: 35 kg (77 lbs)
  • Suspension: Quadruple spring suspension
  • Charging time: 12 hours (6 hours with dual/upgraded charger)

Their flagship product and most powerful eScooter, the Apollo Phantom packs a serious punch. The design is stylish yet rugged and hardy, utilising an aerospace-grade aluminium for its fully folding frame. Easily the biggest and baddest model in their range, the ‘Phantom’ boasts dual brushless 1200W motors with a total peak output of ~3200W. This aids in its unbeatable acceleration and a rapid top speed of ~40 mp/h (61 km/h).

All of this potent performance is powered by a 52V 23.4aH Dynavolt battery rated at 1216Wh (Watt Hours); leading to an average range of ~40 miles (64 km) per charge. This model is available in an upgraded variant, boasting a bigger 60V battery and an improved hydraulic braking system. This 60V model increases the top speed to 43 mp/h (70 km/h) and adds an extra half-mile to its range.

From what we’ve seen, this is one of the top electric scooters currently available on the market, with hundreds of hours put into R&D and production. All versions of the Apollo Phantom claim quadruple spring suspension, one of the best systems available on an eScooter. Such superior shock absorption and an incredible motor output make this model suitable for both on and off-road use, although we recommend replacing the tires first.

The majority of features from previous models have carried over, including integrated front, rear and under-deck lighting, coupled with a fully folding frame and kickstand. Despite its folding capacity, the ‘Phantom’ weighs a fairly significant 35 kg (77 lbs), whilst supporting payloads of up to 136 kg (300 lbs). This model makes for a ‘must have’ in the collection of any dedicated eScooter enthusiast.

At the time of writing, the Apollo Phantom is only available for pre-order. The standard 52V model costs $2,099 USD ($2,299 USD with hydraulic brakes), with the upgraded 60V model increasing this figure to $2,599 USD.
