Klotz makes a couple of different
motorcycle chain lubes; ExtraTac is not our favorite.
It sprays out as a rapidly expanding "foamy" cloud,
which we think is very inefficient. It's very
difficult to direct a small precise amount where it will
do the most good.
Apparently, the idea is to overwhelm the chain and hope the
foaming action will distribute the lube down into the chain. This may
work, but we still think it's wasteful and messy, so it's not clear if the
low cost per gram is, in the end, worthwhile.
The label does claim that Klotz ExtraTac penetrates and also
that it "cleans". We're not sure if that means it's supposed to clean
the chain as it lubricates or not...
As we mentioned in the
lead page for this
13-product comparison, any of these chain lubes will probably do a good job
for you, so it's a matter of availability, the price you're willing to pay
and the type of lube you like to use. Klotz ExtraTac probably does as
good a job as any, but it seems a bit wasteful.
Perhaps if it had a more precise delivery mechanism, or
maybe a less vigorous foaming action, we might think differently. See
the video (link on the home page of this chain lube comparison) to see it in
action.
