Tips
NEW! You may not have noticed, but
something is different on the webBikeWorld search
results page.
If you search webBikeWorld with the search box
included in the upper right hand corner of every page
(including the page you are now reading!), you'll see a
new drop-down box at the top of the search results page.
The drop-down currently has three categories: Helmet
Reviews, Lighting and LEDs and Gloves.
This is a new feature we're implementing in our
Fusionbot search engine. You can select one
of the items in the drop-down and click "Go", which will
give you a listing of all the reviews for that category.
And, you can also search within each category.
If you'd like to see the entire listing of articles in a
drop-down category, make sure the search entry box is
empty!
So, for example, if you wanted to find motorcycle
gloves with carbon fiber knuckle protectors, select the
"Gloves" drop-down category and enter the word "carbon"
(without the quotes) in the search field. Click
"Go" and, well, there you go! If you
wanted to find all glove articles, leave the search box
empty and select "Gloves" in the drop down and click
"Go".
We'll be going through all ~2,500 webBikeWorld pages
to add this feature, so eventually the drop-down will
include a listing of all webBikeWorld categories.
Enjoy!
The following table outlines the search syntax supported by the FusionBot Search
engine.
By
default, the FusionBot server will return only those pages containing every keyword searched.
For example, searching for: bmw motorcycle will return the same results as searching for: +bmw
+motorcycle.
|
Search |
Example |
Explanation |
| Single Keyword |
bmw |
Returns each page containing the keyword
bmw |
| Multiple Keywords |
bmw motorcycle |
Returns each page containing
the keyword bmw AND the keyword
motorcycle
anywhere within the document. Same as if you had typed: +bmw +motorcycle (see
Boolean) |
| Phrase |
"bmw motorcycle" |
Returns each page containing
the exact string in quotes, meaning only those pages where bmw
is followed directly by motorcycle. |
| Boolean |
+motorcycle -bmw |
Returns each page based on
the Boolean condition being met. A plus (+) preceding a keyword indicates that the
keyword MUST exist on the page. A minus (-) preceding a keyword
indicates that the keyword MUST NOT exist on the page. |
Wildcard (Partial Keywords) |
mot* *bike *sto* |
Returns each page where a
keyword exists that either starts with, ends with, or is contained within a particular
term. Therefore, the first example would return any page containing keywords
starting with mot, such as motor, or
motorcycle,
or motocross. The second example would return any page
containing
keywords ending in bike such as sportbike,
or roadbike.
The third example would return any page containing keywords with
sto
within
itself, such as restore, or resstoration. |
| Title Search |
^bmw |
Returns each page containing
the keyword bmw within the <TITLE> section of the
HTML. |
| URL Search |
$motorcycle |
Search all indexed URLs
within a site including the domain name, directory path, and filename / extension.
