Rev'it GTX Gloves
The Rev'it Bastion GTX gloves represent the
top-of-the-line for Fall/Winter 2010. These are
the highest-tech gloves I've ever seen, incorporating
Schoeller Dynamic and Nanosphere fabrics; goat hide with
a water-resistant coating and 1000 denier Cordura
rip-stop with a Teflon coating.Superfabric is used over the knuckles
for abrasion protection and, yes, the Bastion GTX gloves even
have some leather, but with a
water-resistant coating.
The insulation used in the
Bastion GTX gloves is Thermolite Plus (also used in the
Cayenne Pro), which is used because it's thin but warm.
The gloves also have a tri-fleece moisture wicking
liner and the gloves also
have a Gore-Tex membrane of course. The Bastion
GTX gloves are designed to be very soft and flexible,
while providing strong abrasion resistance with the
Superfabric with minimal use of hard knuckle protectors.
The gloves also include a built-in visor wiper and a
water-resistant zipper to close the gauntlet.
The Bastion GTX gloves use a textile outer shell to
minimize the amount of water absorption. A leather
glove will absorb more water and can take a very long
time to dry, so riders on multiple-day tours in rainy
weather need to make sure that the gloves will be dry
the next day. The coated textiles used in the
Bastion GTX gloves is designed to shed as much water as
possible.
The Alaska gloves are well known to the webBikeWorld
readers who were also members of the Rev'it Gore-Tex
Test Team. Something like 60 pairs of gloves were
sent out to Test Team riders (more)
and each glove had a different combination of fabrics
and features. The Test Team riders provided lots
of feedback, which was incorporated into the final
design. I have a series of photos below showing
the improved gloves with the Test Team feedback.
The Orion GTX gloves are also new. They feature
the new 1000 denier rip-stop Cordura with Teflon
coating, along with the water-resistant goat skin and
wax treated Cordura. The Orion GTX gloves have a
Gore-Tex breathable membrane also.
Several other gloves will be released in the Rev'it
Fall/Winter 2010 lineup, but I was only able to see the
few mentioned hee.

New Rev'it gloves include the Bastion GTX (top); Alaska
gloves (center) and the Orion GTX gloves (bottom).

Superfabric and comfortable "waffle" liner used in the
Bastion GTX gloves.

Superfabric looks and feels like ceramic fish scales!
Note rip-stop Cordura on the side of the Bastion gloves.

This batch provided lots of input for the Alaska glove,
which was changed based on the feedback,
as shown in the following photos:

prototype version of the Alaska glove at the top.
The final production version of the Alaska glove will
incorporate hard knuckle armor under the leather,
based on Test Team feedback.

Alaska glove liner was changed based on Test Team
feedback.

The production version of the Alaska glove will have a
TPU slider, again based on Test Team feedback.

Stitching and reinforcement on the Alaska glove was
changed, based on Test Team feedback.
