November 4, 2010 – Besides the new Caberg Ego (report), Caberg will also introduce the Caberg HyperX for 2011.

UPDATE: Caberg to enter U.S. market (more in the Caberg HyperX Review)!  Also see this Caberg DOT Helmets report from the 2011 Dealer Expo.

The Caberg HyperX is a dual-homologated Jet helmet, which means it passes both the full-face and open-face ECE safety standards.

This has been done before, sometimes successfully and sometimes not.

But the HyperX looks very well made (from the few minutes I had with it at the show) and the removable chin bar seemed especially sturdy, unlike some of the other dual-homologated Jet helmets I’ve handled which make you wonder how they ever passed the testing regime.

The shell is a modified Caberg Sintesi (review) shell with the same top vents and internal sun shade. One of the really nice features of the HyperX is the huge face shield, which gives an outstanding view, especially in the vertical plane.

Caberg said that one of the design goals was to give it a very open feeling.

The clear face shield is easily removed and the internal sun shade can be rotated down to act as a shield; it is also homologated to work as a safety shield.

This gives Adventure Touring riders and Touring riders a good option of having an equivalent full-face helmet and an open face when desired.

The HyperX uses the full Jet configuration, which means wider and longer chin protection along the sides of the face, as compared to a demi-Jet, which has much smaller (almost none) cheek/side face protectors and padding.

So put the chin bar on the HyperX and you pretty much have a full-face helmet and, in fact, it is ECE homologated as such.

Very nice in white with the new and very sharp-looking Caberg black, white and red logo. We’ll be getting a couple of these also for a review and here it is: Caberg HyperX Review!
