2009 Motogiro d'Italia
2009 Motogiro d'Italia is
Go!
The Motogiro d’Italia, scheduled to start May 12,
2009, is a yearly event on the Italian
Motorcycling Federation’s vintage racing calendar. Furthermore, it is the only historical motorcycle Giro
in Italy, known as the Motogiro d’Italia.
The most important class – Vintage - is open to all
motorbikes built up to 1957 with a 175cc motor. These
regulations are followed by Dream Engine (the
organizers) and are
set by the Motorcycling governing body.
Festivities for the Ninth Annual Edition of Motogiro
d’Italia are underway and ready to go.
The rider’s convoy will start on the 12th of May, from
Bologna.
From there it will head towards Ferrara, Padova
and then finally arrive in Treviso, which will be its
home base until the 15th of May.
This year’s Motogiro will visit the Riviera del Brenta
and travel through the Venetian and Friuli Mountains,
where riders will be visiting many of the battles sites
of World War I and places that Hemingway had lived and
visited during his time in the area.
Furthermore, these
regions are also recognized for their cultural heritage
and famous regional food.
On the 15th of May participants will head towards
Bologna. On the 16th of May the convoy will be going
south towards Florence, to visit the famous Tuscan
hillside.
Finally, the Motogiro will make its triumphant
return to Bologna. On that evening the Motogiro Gala
night will be held to announce the winner of the 2009
Motogiro.
Thanks to the popularity and great success of the
Motogiro over the years, the event has built a great
following of riders from overseas. This success has also
been achieved due to many written articles published in
Foreign and Italian newspapers.
All this has,
understandably, led to other motorcycling events to
compete against the Motogiro. Dream Engine welcomes this
competition, "this demonstrates that we have worked well over the years, resurrecting a sector
that was struggling", said a Dream Engine spokesperson.
The competition from other events has not limited
themselves to imitating the Motogiro; in fact, it has used
unfair methods, such as contacting our participants and
stating that the Motogiro would not be held this year,
so be careful!
Finally, Dream Engine would like to mention that the
2009 edition is indeed being held and at the present moment has
more than a hundred participants.
We would like to take the opportunity to publicly thank
those who have continuously spoken and written about the
Motogiro d’Italia event. Thanks to them, Motogiro
continues to have extended publicity and success.
