$750.00 was been
donated to Millennium
Promise. Visit the
wBW
Site Info page for more information
about webBikeWorld charitable donations. |
Do you believe it? webBikeWorld was
started in 2000 and our first review was posted in 2001. And here we
are with our 400th review article, the
Belstaff
Mercury jacket!
We decided to do something special to celebrate this
milestone!
The jacket was donated by
British
Motorcycle Gear and we sold if for $250.00. The money was matched
by webBikeWorld and New
Enough (through the dollars that webBikeWorld visitors have earmarked
during their New Enough purchases) for a total of $750.00, which was then donated to Millennium
Promise (see below)!
The funds were used to purchase malaria nets for mothers and children in Africa.
Why malaria nets? It's hard to believe that here we are in 2006 and a child dies every 30
seconds from malaria. The malaria nets can help put a stop to this!
Insecticide-treated bed nets cost a mere $10.00 each, including delivery.
The bed nets can help prevent malaria by protecting a mother and child
during the night when the mosquitoes are most active. Each bed net
lasts for 5 years and protects 2 people.
This was a great way to celebrate. Thanks for everyone
who participated!
