2009 BMW Motorcycle Innovation Design Contest

The English project website (see below) uses an online innovation platform at the Swiss site atizo.com, where anyone can submit ideas until July 17 and win both money as well as other prizes.

UPDATE: Indeed, BMW Motorcycles is sponsoring this competition; the sponsor is "working closely together with the BMW Motorrad department of product development and product planning".

The sponsor also mentioned that "at the same time this competition is also part of a scientific study on innovation processes within open business environments (open innovation). In this study we are trying to identify the most relevant factors for the success of such open innovation processes". Sounds interesting!

The evaluation criteria will focus on ideas and designs that:

Take into account cultural and technical trends;
Address defined buyer or customer groups;
Are creative and yet functional;
Are feasible for manufacturing.
