2013 Dealer Expo to Combine With Progressive International Motorcycle Shows for Public Viewing Days
July 23, 2012 (The Editor) - webBikeWorld has been pushing for this for many years and now it's reality: the yearly Dealer Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana will have public viewing days!
The Dealer Expo (see our 2012 Dealer Expo report) will run consecutively with the Indianapolis stop for the national Progressive International Motorcycle Show series, held annually during the winter in the U.S.A. to introduce motorcyclists to the new motorcycles and gear for the Spring riding season.
Since the Dealer Expo attracts motorcycle product manufacturers from all over the world and is the largest (and only) show of its type in the U.S.A., it only makes sense to allow public access at some point during the show, since the manufacturers spend a lot of money to set up their booths. Allowing the public to see the displays is a good strategy to help leverage the manufacturers' attendance at the event.
The Dealer Expo was originally designed to introduce U.S. powersports dealers to the new products available for the Spring season, but dealers already know what's available before the Dealer Expo and most have placed orders long before the traditional February Presidents' Day weekend when the show is held.
So allowing the public to view all of the new gear is a great idea and, in fact, having attended the Dealer Expo for many years, I can say that it will be worth the trip to Indianapolis from anywhere in the U.S.A., because this is definitely the largest and most extensive collection of motorcycle gear you'll see anywhere outside of the EICMA or Intermot show in Europe.
The show will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 15-17, 2013, at the Lucas Oil Stadium. Together, the two events will take over downtown Indianapolis over President’s Day weekend.
The 2013 Dealer Expo will cover 230,000 square feet of space with more than 700 exhibitors showcasing all the powersports industry has to offer and the hottest new parts, products and gear for the upcoming riding season.
As always, webBikeWorld will be reporting live from the event with information, photos and video about all of the latest motorcycle clothing, helmets and other interesting products.
In the spirit of celebrating the business and passion of our sport, Dealer Expo attendees will be granted special access to the Indianapolis Motorcycle Show after normal Dealer Expo trade show hours, and motorcycle show consumers will have select access to Dealer Expo for the first time.
"We’re thrilled to bring the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows to Indianapolis, and run it alongside Dealer Expo -- it’s a perfect fit for a market we’ve served for the last 44 years and a great way to bring the industry, dealers and riders together" said Advanstar Executive Vice President Danny Phillips.
"Our goal in developing one, single powersports weekend was to make sure we listened carefully to our customers, so that we created the right format, in the right city, at the right price and built the combined trade and consumer industry event they wanted."
