Background

February 17, 2012 - (Note: I'll have more on the 2012 Tourmaster line coming soon but here's a quick "teaser" look for now).

I'll admit: I have a soft spot for Tourmaster clothing.

This is probably because of a pair of Tourmaster overpants (review) that were my first "serious" motorcycle apparel item.

Believe it or not, I still have them -- and still wear them.

Several other Tourmaster items have been reviewed on webBikeWorld since then, including the Tourmaster Transition 2 jacket (review) and the equally nice Tourmaster Epic jacket (review).

Like all of the Tourmaster gear, both of those jackets have a lot of "bang for the buck". They are the very definition of the term "good value".

That's because Tourmaster gear has good quality, it's feature-rich, it's available at every Mom & Pop motorcycle shop and, best of all, it's cheap. As in, it doesn't cost much.

The Transition 2 jacket can still be found for around $178.00, but the new Transition 3 jacket costs only 10 bucks more.

The Transition 3 jacket (review) is a step under the Epic jacket. It's an excellent all-around, 3/4-length jacket that works all year long. Honestly, if I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a jacket and I wanted one jacket that would do it all, the Transition would be it

The Transition 3 comes in a variety of colors, including high-viz yellow, and an expanded size range, from XS all the way up to XXXL Long. it features a 600 denier "Carbolex" shell with high-density 1680 denier ballistic polyester in the abrasion zones.

A waterproof and breathable liner and a quilted removable liner help make the Transition 3 jacket a four-season affair. It uses the Tourmaster "Pipeline" venting system, which can be seen in the photos below. These vents can be set to remain open to funnel air into the jacket in warm weather.

The Transition 3 isn't all that different from the 2, truth be told -- at least as far as I can tell from handling it in the Helmet House booth at the 2012 Dealer Expo. I hope to get one on the review schedule and although we no longer have the Transition 2 in house, I'm sure we'll be able to dig up our review notes for a comparison.

In the meantime, here are some photos of the Tourmaster Transition 3, along with the new Tourmaster Centurion one-piece suit. I don't have a lot of info on the suit and it does look very similar to the Teiz Cross-Continent one-piece suit (review) we reviewed last year.

I plan on heading back to the Tourmaster/Helmet House booth tomorrow to get more info; they were among the most crowded of the booths at the opening day of the show and all of the Helmet House representatives were busy!
