Ducati has announced the details of the Ducati
Riding Experience for 2007. This year includes
a round at the prestigious Magny-Cours race circuit
in France!
The exciting new
Ducati 1098
will be used for all Race
Courses. Dates include the prestigious circuits of Magny-Cours in France and Pannonia-Ring in Hungary.
Synonymous with Ducati Riding Experience bikes, exciting
international race tracks and professional
instruction, the Ducati Riding Experience now moves
into the 2007 edition with Race Course participants
being taught aboard the new Ducati 1098, the most
powerful twin-cylinder sports bike in the world.
Presented last November at the International
Motorcycle Show in Milan, the 1098 has already won
the "Most Beautiful Motorcycle in Show" award and
the "Motorcycle Design Trophy" for the best overall
motorcycle design in 2006. Now, Ducati offers the
opportunity to improve your skills by riding this
award winning motorcycle.
For 2007, the opening three courses (April 26, 27
and May 3) will be held at the world famous circuit
of Mugello and, for the first time ever, the Ducati
Riding Experience will also stage events outside of
Italy. June 4 sees the Riding School and all its
staff travel to the French circuit of Magny-Cours
and on July 18, 19 move on to Hungary for the
Pannonia-Ring.
Ducati’s clear intention is to give to more fans
the opportunity to experience the thrills that
motorcycling can provide while teaching within the
limits of both the bike and rider. The Ducati
Riding Experience is not only
for absolute beginners, there are courses suitable
for all levels of riders from beginners to various
levels of experienced riders who want to improve
their road-riding skills or learn how to ride on the
racetrack in safety and in the company of a team of
experts.
Basic Course
This course has been designed for people with no
previous riding experience. Open to men and women,
the classes include individual riding sessions, and
theory. A motorcycle license is not needed to take
part in this course, but participants must be over the age of
18.
The course is designed for a maximum of 28
participants and is divided into small groups of 4
students who will use reduced-power Monster 695s to
learn the basic riding skills such as initial
start-off, braking and cornering. Each participant
will receive 4 individual practice sessions with an
instructor as well as elementary theory lessons.
Intermediate Course
Intended for men and women who already have some
riding experience and want to improve their skills a
little further, this course covers typical road
situations and advises how to tackle hazards by
applying specific riding techniques that increase
safety and rectify bad riding habits.
The exercises
are designed to help riders maintain better control
of their bikes and avoid potentially dangerous
everyday situations. To participate in this course
it is necessary to have a full motorcycle license
with no engine displacement limitations. The course
is designed for a maximum of 42 participants divided
into small groups of 6 students and using a fleet of
Monster S2R and Multistrada 1100 machines.
Each
group will have 4 bikes available to ride in each
session and after a series of riding exercises in
the paddock, students will have the opportunity to
test their skills on the track in complete safety
with their instructors.
Racing Course
This course is intended for skilled male and female
riders who have never been on a track, or have some
track riding experience. The Racing Course is
designed to introduce experienced street riders to
the track and teach or improve their existing track
riding techniques.
To participate in this course it
is necessary to have a full motorcycle license with
no engine displacement limitations. The course is
designed for a maximum of 40 participants divided
into small groups of 5-6 students using a fleet of Ducati’s new 1098 Superbikes.
The groups will be organized according to the level of previous
experience indicated by the rider during
registration and may be revised by Ducati Riding
Experience staff after
the initial track session if they feel that
placement has been made incorrectly. With safety in
mind, organizers will select and assign group
instructors appropriately and so regret that
requests by participants to be assigned to specific
groups or instructors cannot be accepted.
Master Racing Course
The Master Racing Course is designed for expert
riders who would like to prepare for competitive
track racing. In order to participate in the course
you must have already taken at least one Ducati
Riding Experience Racing
Course and we advise against registering for this
course unless you have previously ridden on the
track at least 10 times.
The training is intended to
build on existing track skills. To participate in
this course it is necessary to have a full
motorcycle license with no engine displacement
limitations. The course uses the new Ducati 1098 S
models and is designed for a maximum of 18
participants.
Each group will be made up of a
maximum of just 3 riders so as to ensure the
personal attention of the instructor. However,
groups may be adjusted by Ducati Riding Experience staff after the
initial track session if they feel that placement
has been made incorrectly. With safety in mind,
organizers will select and assign group instructors
appropriately and so regret that requests by
participants to be assigned to specific groups or
instructors cannot be accepted.
During the course each rider
will have the opportunity to ride a 1098 S equipped
with a full-race data acquisition system which
records information from the bike regarding the
rider's performance. Data recorded includes throttle
opening, RPM, vehicle speed, lap times, suspension
travel, brake pressure, tire temperatures and
lateral and longitudinal G-forces. At the end of the
course each student will receive a copy of their own
data.
Apparel
Participants are expected to provide all necessary
riding gear including leathers, full-face helmet,
back protector, gloves and boots. Riders who don’t
have these items, however, can hire them during
their online registration for the course (while
stocks last). Hired items will be issued at the
track on the morning of the course and must be
returned at the end of the day.
Registration and Payment
Registration for these courses is
only
available online. Payment can be made by
credit card or bank transfer. Those who participated
in Ducati Riding Experience 2006 are entitled to a discount for
Ducati Riding Experience 2007,

and contact Ducati Riding Experience Customer Service. The cost of all
